"We Don't Want No Devils in the House, We Want the Lord." 3/26/18

Ice skating on P-day

Thai power lines!

Hello Everybody!

I hope that your weeks have been sufficiently savory. This week has been pretty solid.

We went ice-skating on Monday with a bunch of members. It was way fun. Then we went and got more measurements done for our suits. On Tuesday we had interviews with President Johnson. He is such an awesome guy. He has great insight on whatever topic we discuss. This transfer, the topic to think about for interviews was Christ-like attributes. We talked about how we need to rely on God more and to counsel with Him in everything. God knows exactly what we're going through, and if we humble ourselves before Him, He will help us to know that everything we go through is part of His plan for us.

We met an awesome new investigator named SM on Thursday. He loves to read, so we give him lots of things to read, haha. He's really good at understanding things he reads, so he's way good. He accepted a date to be baptized on the 22nd of April!  The only problem is that he goes to a different province a lot for his work. On Friday, I had switch offs with Elder Decker. He's a pretty cool guy and a great missionary. He's way funny. We went over to a member’s house on Saturday because of some spooky stuff that would happen there. We helped him bless it and dedicate it. It was pretty interesting.

On Sunday, we didn't have too many investigators come to church because most were either in other provinces or have broken knees. Today we don't have too much planned. Just going to go pick up our suits because they're finally done.

I hope you all have great weeks this week!

I love and miss you all! 😘❤️

Count Them Blessings Boyyy - 3/19/18

Elder Julander and me
Bangkok East Zone
Bangkapi
Hey Everybody!

I hope all of your weeks have been exceptionally spicy. This week has been pretty solid! We had the opportunity to have a good zone conference this past Saturday. Zone conferences are always awesome. There was a lot of emphasis on helping people make and keep commitments, and how that helps them repent and come unto Christ. Sister Johnson also gave good training on how to avoid pride and cultivate humility. There was a focus on emphasizing the message of the Restoration as well. The Restoration helps people to see how much God cares for them and how we can be blessed by Him today. I'm so glad we are able to live in a time where we have access to all of those blessings. The Johnsons are such amazing people and I'm so lucky to have them in charge of my mission.

This past week has been good. On Monday, Elders Decker, Pastores, Julander, and I went to downtown Bangkok to get some fabric to cut suits. Then we took them to a tailor to have the fabrics made into actual suits. We are hoping they will be ready in time for when President Nelson comes and visits Thailand.

MW is still so awesome! She can't get baptized yet because she's having knee surgery next month, but her faith is so strong. We had an awesome lesson with her as we talked about President Monson's final talk about the power of the Book of Mormon in our lives. She is so excited about the idea of receiving guidance from God's servants on the earth.

Another perk of zone conference this past week is that I got to meet up with my buddies Elder English and Elder Ference again! They're doing great and are both studs.

Today I believe we are going to go ice skating somewhere with all the missionaries in our ward, as well as with some members. It should be a good time. We also have to go back to the tailor and take some more measurements for our suits.

Also another fun fact! Not only is it starting to be the super hot season, but it's also mango season now! Mangos here taste sooooooooooooo good, especially when they're in season. You should try them sometime.

I hope you all have a great week this week!
I love and miss you all!

Chop Chop Chop - 3/11/18

Baptism of one of the sisters' investigators, Brother GR.

On the way to Dream World last week.

This goose was being mean and tried to bite us, so we had a showdown.

Hey Everybody!

I hope that you've all had a good week this past week! This week has been pretty solid.

Okay! So this has been an interesting week. Not too much has happened, but last night was pretty interesting. Sadly, Sister MW's knees gave out this week, so she wasn't able to be baptized. She still has amazing faith and desire to follow Christ, but she is just physically unable at the moment.

Bangkapi is an awesome area! The ward here is really good and love the gospel.

We have a new potential investigator named WT. He is cool and came to English on his own this past week with his 3 kids. Then this Sunday he came to church with his daughter and said that he's interested in learning more about the Book of Mormon. We're excited to start meeting with him.

Last night was a strange experience. We were making French toast as a district for last night's dinner at the church, and one of the other elders' investigators showed up. He’s a unique individual. He saw we were eating French toast and said he wanted to make some food too! "Well, that's cool I guess," we all thought. He then ran onto his motorcycle and drove off. He then returns at around 8ish with a ton of random ingredients and attempts to start making papaya salad while talking with himself, which he does constantly. At some point in the cooking process, he decided he was too hot and took off his shirt. Yeah, okay, we all thought. We also tried to get him to stop making his recipe, because we all had to go home pretty soon. We finally convinced him that we could do this another day and he just got on his motorcycle and drove away. So we were left cleaning up all of this random cooking stuff, haha. He is a kinda scary-ish dude. He talks/laughs/yells to himself pretty much constantly. Hey, but he's got a good heart and claims to be interested in learning about Jesus, so that's neat.

I hope you have great weeks this week! Love and miss you all! Keep being awesome!

Love,
Elder Ridd
