I hope that you have all had some enthralling experiences this past week. This week has been an interesting one.

On Saturday we went on a hike with the young single adults here. It was pretty good. We went to some cool jungle cliffs and saw a small waterfall. We pretty much drove to the cliff and then took a small trek through the jungle to get to the little waterfall. It was pretty good. 

Later Saturday night, President Hammond arrived in Laos and wanted to meet with all of the missionaries, including the senior couples, so we all got together and talked about Laos. He then came to church and spoke a little bit on Sunday. All the members are always super excited to see him. 

We were going to have our English exams this week, but then there was randomly National Teacher Day or something, so now we will do them this week. We taught a bunch of English again this week, which is always a good time. 

This upcoming Friday will actually be our Zone Conference, but Elders Eckersley and Jorgensen will be unable to go because their visas require them to stay here for a period of time, so Elder Phasay and I will go alone.

We are all hyped for conference this weekend! It's always so good to hear from the leaders of the church and all of the things they are wanting to share with us. It'll be a great few days.

Yesterday the other elders and I went to visit a recently returned missionary from Australia, Nuna, and her family. They are so awesome! Nuna is the only member in her family, but her family is so cool and fun to spend time with. We biked out to her family's farm and were able to actually go fishing and eat a lot of fish. We returned home to our apartment with a bag full of about 7 half dead fish splashing around in a grocery bag. So now we've got a fridge stocked with fish. Smells great over here.

Something amazing that happened this week was about of investigator La. She is 15 and has come to church twice. The first time we taught her she was suuuuuuuuper shy. She came again this week and was like a compleeeetely different person. She was super talkative and funny and joked with all of the kids her age. During our lesson with her she completely blew us away. She had already read to around Alma 7. She had so many great questions, and then we taught her about the Plan of Salvation and explained about all of the stuff we need to do to follow Jesus and be with our families for eternity. She loved it so much and said she wanted to be baptized. We let her choose when and she decided to pick November 4. That's pretty cool! I'm excited to have a birthday baptism haha. She is seriously so awesome for her age though.

Goin' Up - 9/28/18

District Conference

We went to a Chinese circus for Family Home Evening. 

Hey everybody! 

I hope that you have all had sufficiently engaging weeks. This week's been quite the ride. I feel like it's kinda been like 3 weeks packed into one. We didn't necessarily do a lot, but for some reason it feels like we have - haha. 

On Saturday night and Sunday we had District Conference! It was a really cool time. I got to see a lot of people I haven't seen in awhile, including my MTC companion, Elder Ference! It was awesome to see him again. He's now one of the Zone Leaders up in Udorn. He's awesome.

We had Elder Woo from the area 70 here for District Conference. He is a way interesting guy. He talked about some pretty nifty stuff. Some things that really stood out are as follows:

·      Jesus is great. He is literally the perfect example for all of us, and we should always try to keep Him center in our lives. He has given everything for us and promises that if we build upon His foundation then we will never fail. That seems like a pretty great promise to me. I recommend you all try it out.

·      All of our branches need 3 major things at the moment:

1.   More worthy Melchizedek Priesthood holders. We need to try to build up the men into the people that God needs them to be to be his servants.

2.   More marriage. Hahahahaha, this one is a fun one. It's a really good time to constantly remind the young single adults in the branches about this. We need more of them to get married and start families. I make sure to do a good job at messing with all of my friends out here about this. It's really funny how awkward they all are about it. 

3.   More missionaries. Returned missionaries are so valuable for these countries. Missions allow the members to go out into the world, learn more about the Gospel, and to learn how to serve. 10/10 great experience. Make sure you get the members hyped about serving. Good thing Lao has like 6 missionaries out right now and more going soon. We're pretty much the best area in the mission/world ;).

SO yeah, that's a lot of what happened there. We also taught a bunch of English this week, got ready for the midterm exams we have to give these communist leaders, and visited a bunch of members. We also had President Tiger, one of the counselors in the mission presidency, who is also one of our favorite people in the mission, come up and visit some northern members with us yesterday. We also have the man himself, President Hammond, coming up tonight to spend his weekend up here. So, yeah it's been fun trying to organize all the stuff for them coming up and stuff. Exciting times.

Well, this was a longer email than I expected. Today we will be going on a way awesome all day hiking trip with the young single adults here, which should give me plenty of time to pair them off and get them married. Also it'll be a way rowdy time. I'm hyped. 

I love all of you so much. Thanks for supporting me! I miss you all and wish you all to have a dank week. <3
