RIP Elder Hansen - 6/22/18

Hey everybody!

This week has been a pretty nifty one. Let's start out with last Sunday!

We had two people baptized on Sunday!! Sister G and Brother P are both so amazing and have amazing testimonies. Sister G was Christian already, so she has an amazing understanding and grasp of the Bible already. She is so knowledgeable about it hahaha. Brother P is a really awesome guy with tons of faith. He's been investigating since about 10 months ago. He first came to the church on Elder Hansen's first Sunday here in Laos, and he will be getting confirmed tomorrow, on Elder Hansen's last Sunday. It was a great experience to see Elder Hansen baptize him.

On Wednesday, Elder Fjelsted, Higginson, and Johnson went to Thailand to go to what we call Joper's meeting, which is a meeting for all of the people who are leaving the mission the following transfer. So here in Laos it was just Elders Hansen, Phasay, and me. We kind of toured around the more northern parts of the province, where it's harder to visit, for the past few days. We would hop on a song taew going north and then get off after about an hour and a half to visit all the members in the area. There are quite a few and they are all way awesome people. It was kinda sad for Elder Hansen - because it will be his last time visiting them - since he leaves in Wednesday.

It's really weird that the Laos elders that have been here for about a year are all going home soon. Soon enough, it will be just Elder Phasay and I plus two other newer elders. It'll be interesting figuring out how best to work with the people here! We actually know who the two elders coming out will be though! One elder will be Elder Jorgensen, who is in the group that came to Thailand right after me. I don't know him very well, but his grandparents used to serve here as a senior couple. The other elder coming out here is....Elder Eckersley!!! You might recognize that name, because I have served with him quite a bit already! I was with him for almost 3 weeks when Elder Xaiyavong went back to Laos for his dad's funeral. He's a way awesome and fun guy, haha. I'm excited to work with him. He's also really excited, partly because his mom is from Laos! So he is half Laoian.

Today we will be going to the biggest lake in Laos and checking out an island in the middle of it, so it should be fun! I hope that you have all had awesome weeks!

Stay frosty, homies.

Love ya,
Elder Ridd 😘✌🏼
